Hydrotherapy Facility

 

We were asked by the director if we could repair the hydrotherapy pool as it hasn’t worked for three years due to the corrosion of the water pipes. Two our volunteers Paul and Graham went to work taking up the floor in the dining room and re-running in new plastic pipe-work and drainage system there. The missing tiles were replaced and re-grouted and the floor was re-painted.

This was the state of the pool when we arrived, the pipes were so corroded that water couldn’t pass through, some of the wall tiles were missing and the floor needed replacing.

 


We then had to take up first all the linoleum then some of the floorboards in the dining room and completely re-run new hot and cold feeds to the hydrotherapy pool.

Two of our volunteers Graham and Paul then set about the task of repairing the main electric motor which powered the water jets. It is now finished and in full working order and is being used on a daily basis again.
